The Health and Safety Executive awarded Capita a contract to provide an enhanced gas regulation service, replacing the well-known Corgi brand and wiping out the 93 per cent public awareness that scheme had achieved over its 27-year lifespan. British householders now had to be made aware of the name of the new accreditation mark they should look for when using gas fitters, and be able to trust the service. The Team developed the name Gas Safe Register, and created a brand to be unveiled to the public and industry in less than six months. The result is a hallmark brand that sits well in the context of other warning and hazard identity language.
